Today’s Quote

Salvation is God’s gift, requiring only the empty hand of faith to receive it.

— John Newton

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

If any of you want to be saved by your good deeds, remember that just one sin will ruin your righteousness. Even a speck of this world’s dirt will spoil the perfection that God requires from you. If you want to be saved by your works, you must be as holy as the angels, as pure and spotless as Jesus,

because the law demands perfection.

The ability to receive God’s gift is barely an ability at all, and yet it’s the only one needed for salvation. Come and take what Christ freely offers you.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe with all your heart.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

March 30

In ancient times, if a master struck a slave on the ear, it could mean that the slave was being set free; the freed man wouldn’t care how hard the blow was. By a stroke of the sword, a warrior was knighted by his king, and it didn’t matter how heavy the

royal hand was. When the Lord intends to lift His servants to a higher level of spiritual life, He often sends them a severe trial.
