Today’s Quote
Heaven is the ultimate rest for weary souls, where sorrow and toil are no more.
— Richard Baxter
Spurgeon’s Daily Help
Those who don’t have to work hard might think they’ll love Heaven as a place of service. That’s true. But for the working man, whether he toils with his mind or his hands, it’s a comforting thought that there’s a place where we can rest. Oh, weary sons and daughters of Adam, you will finally be still,
quiet, and find rest, for in Heaven, everyone is rich, everyone is happy, and everyone is at peace. Words like toil, trouble, struggle, and labor don’t exist there, for Heaven is a place of eternal rest.

The atoning work of Jesus is the most powerful weapon in our spiritual arsenal. The cross is the mighty battering ram that can break through the strongholds of human prejudice and the iron bars of stubbornness. The thought of Christ as our Judge can be
terrifying, but Christ, the Man of Sorrows, softens hearts. The crown of thorns has a royal power that compels willing allegiance; the reed scepter breaks hearts more effectively than a rod of iron, and the robe of mockery commands more love than Caesar’s imperial purple.
