Today’s Quote

I have reason to praise Him for my trials, for most probably I would have been ruined without them!

— John Newton

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

God determines, with perfect wisdom, the best time for His redeemed people to remain on earth. Surely, if there could be regrets in Heaven, the saints might wish they had lived longer on earth to do more good. Oh, for more sheaves for my Lord’s barn! More jewels for His crown! But how can that happen

without more work? When we’re fully serving God and He’s giving us the opportunity to scatter precious seed and reap a hundredfold, we might even say it’s good for us to stay where we are. Whether our Master says "go" or "stay," let us be equally content, as long as He blesses us with His presence.

When our weak prayers are heard and answered by God’s power, we’re strengthened in the habit of prayer and more committed to continuous intercession. "Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live." We wouldn’t

be pleased if a beggar told us that because we granted his request, he would never stop asking us for more. But it’s different with God—He finds it most pleasing when His petitioners resolve to keep asking for as long as they live.

Spurgeon’s Quote
