But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life. — John 4:14 BSB

If you are a true believer in Christ, your new life will be like a spring of water inside you. Wherever you go, whether into the driest desert, the hottest plain, or the darkest paths of sorrow, your life will not wither or fail because its source is within you. It’s not fed by external means, nor is it dependent on religious practices for nourishment. The fountain of your life, comfort, joy, and strength is supplied by heaven, from the fullness of Christ, and it will never dry up. From this well of water in the Christian's heart flows a constant stream of life, bringing blessing to the world.

If you can only be a small spring, with just enough water to fill a pilgrim’s cup, don’t be discouraged. Be the sweet blessing you can be, and thank God for the privilege. But Jesus says that "rivers of living water" will flow from the believer—not just a trickle, but large rivers to bless a whole community. We shouldn’t be satisfied with small usefulness; we should seek to bear much fruit. We should always be abundant in the work of the Lord, striving to be the greatest blessing we can be.
