Spurgeon’s Daily Help
There are times when all the promises and teachings of the Bible won’t help us unless God Himself applies them to our hearts. To meet this need, there is one, the Spirit of Truth, who takes the things of Jesus and makes them real to us. Don’t think that Christ has placed His joys on some high shelf for
us to reach on our own. No, He comes near to us and fills our hearts with His peace. Christian, if you are struggling today, your Father doesn’t just give you promises and leave you to figure them out. The promises He wrote in His Word, He will write again on your heart.

No one is closer to the door of God’s mercy than those who feel the farthest from it. No one is more likely to receive a kind word from Jesus than those who have no words left for themselves. When you have escaped from relying on yourself, you are just
a step away from being accepted by God. It’s a good sign that grace is overflowing when the sands of our own righteousness are completely covered. Take heart—Christ loves you even when you feel like you have no love left for yourself.
