In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. — Rom 8:26 BSB

In all our prayers and approaches to the throne of grace, we must seek to have the mind of the Spirit, desiring to know and do God's will. We should continually look up to the Lord Jesus, trusting Him to teach and guide us. We must ask that by His Spirit and grace, He would conform us more and more to His suffering image, help us to know Him better, and enable us to serve Him faithfully. Our prayers should grow more fervent, earnest, and sincere—more spiritual and aligned with God's will—so that they become the Spirit's own intercession in our hearts, bringing more clear and evident answers.

Pray for a manifestation of Christ to your soul, for a revelation of His Person, blood, righteousness, and love. Seek clearer signs of divine life, brighter evidences of God’s favor, the dispelling of doubts and fears, and a fuller assurance of your personal salvation in Christ’s finished work. Desire for God’s promises to be applied to your heart and His Word to come alive in your conscience, with a faith that connects deeply with the truth you hear or read.

Ask for submission, patience, humility, contrition, godly sorrow for sin, heavenly affections, and the sweet spirituality of mind that brings life and peace. Above all, seek the assurance that your prayers are heard and accepted, and watch for the answers. This will give you the clearest and surest evidence that the Spirit of God is interceding for you with groanings that cannot be expressed.
