But this is not the way you came to know Christ. — Eph 4:20 BSB
Christians are called to live differently than the rest of the world.
We are expected to set an example of a heavenly life, having left the ways of the world behind. We are no longer to “walk as the Gentiles walk.”
Those who have learned Christ must put away the evil things of their former life and be renewed in their minds.
We should stop lying and speak truthfully with our neighbors. If we get angry, we must be sure not to hold on to that anger—“Let not the sun go down upon your wrath.” If we used to steal, we must steal no more, but instead work honestly for what we need. We must watch our speech, avoiding corrupt words and speaking only what is helpful and encouraging. We must be careful never to grieve the Holy Spirit. We should rid our hearts of bitterness and be kind to everyone.
