The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. — John 1:14 BSB
The most extraordinary event in human history was when God took on human form and came to live among us. The “Word” was with God from eternity, and then, in time, the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. This is what happened on that quiet night in Bethlehem when Jesus was born.
His life on earth for thirty-three years was nothing short of amazing. Jesus Himself explained it when He said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.” As we read about His gentleness, patience, selflessness, and kindness, we are witnessing God’s character revealed in human form. Without the incarnation, we could never fully understand the nature of the invisible God. But because He came down to live among us, we now know how approachable, loving, and merciful He is, and how eager He is to help us.
The Christ we see in the Gospels is the God with whom we have a relationship.
