On hearing this, all the people in the synagogue were enraged. — Luke 4:28 BSB
Some people are never willing to recognize the good in others or give them the honor they deserve.
This was the problem with the people of Nazareth. Jesus had grown up among them, and in a small village, everyone knows everyone’s business. Often, young men make mistakes in their youth, and these are remembered against them as they grow older. But there was nothing in Jesus’ childhood that could shame Him.
He had lived so beautifully, so lovingly, and so purely that no one could say anything bad about Him. Yet, when He returned to visit His hometown, despite His fame and the miracles He had performed, the people refused to believe that He was the Messiah.
Many people today have the same attitude. They refuse to see the good in others, even when it’s right in front of them.
