For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. — 2 Tim 4:6 BSB
In this chapter, we read Paul’s final words from his prison cell. But these are not the words of a defeated man; they are filled with victory and triumph.
Paul was lonely and cold in his dungeon, asking for his cloak. He recalled standing before the emperor with no one to support him, yet he wasn’t alone—the Lord stood by him and gave him strength. He knew his death was near, but he was confident of his future: “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom.” He described his life as a fight, a race, and a trust. Looking back, he was satisfied—he had fought well, completed his race, and kept the faith. Looking forward, he saw the crown of righteousness waiting for him.
