And do not be concerned about what you will eat or drink. Do not worry about it. — Luke 12:29 BSB
Worry causes a great deal of unhappiness and harm in the world. Yet Jesus tells us that we need never be anxious about anything. He gives us reasons for this assurance. We don’t need to worry about food or clothing. God feeds the birds, and we are much more valuable to Him than birds. He clothes the lilies in unmatched beauty, and surely we are more precious to Him than flowers.
Worry doesn’t solve anything. In fact, it makes us less able to deal with the challenges we face. If our minds are troubled with anxiety and our hands are unsteady, we can’t do anything well. If we truly trust that we are God’s children, we don’t need to worry about our needs. Our responsibility is to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness—to focus on doing what He calls us to do—and God will take care of the rest. Too often, we worry about God’s part while neglecting our own.
