So then, let us pursue what leads to peace and to mutual edification. — Rom 14:19 BSB

Paul talks a lot about building each other up.

We’re encouraged to focus on things that will help each other grow. The word “edify” comes from architecture—it means to build. We are all builders. Human lives are like unfinished buildings, and every person who interacts with us adds something to the structure, whether it’s a block to strengthen it or an ornament to beautify it.

Hundreds of people touch our lives every day—through business, friendships, letters, and brief encounters—and each one leaves a mark on us. That mark could be something that enhances our character or something that scars it.

Everyone who comes into contact with us, even for a moment, leaves an impression, either for good or bad. So we’re reminded to make sure that everything we do in our interactions with others helps to build them up.
