Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. — Rom 15:30 BSB

How fortunate is the person who has friends who pray for them.

Paul often asked his friends to pray for him. He felt a constant need for their prayers. There’s nothing more valuable our friends can do for us than to bring our names before God.

A little boy once said after a family worship session led by a guest, “I’m so glad Dr. Lyman told God my name. Now He’ll know me when He sees me.”

It’s a great comfort to know that others are praying for us. And there’s no better way we can help our friends than by praying for them. We don’t always know what they need, and sometimes our attempts to help might actually do more harm than good. We might take away a burden God wanted them to carry for their own growth.

But if we ask God to help them in His way, He’ll do what’s best for them.
