The farmer sows the word. — Mark 4:14 BSB
What happens to all the sermons we hear? The parable of the Sower helps us understand.
Only the seed sown on good soil produced a harvest. The seed sown on three other kinds of ground failed to grow.
It’s the same with God’s Word.
Some of it never even enters the heart—it’s snatched away immediately. Some starts to grow but has shallow roots, and it withers when temptations or challenges come. Some seed gets a good start, but the distractions of life—worries, riches, and pleasures—choke it out before it can mature.
We should aim to be good soil, ready to receive the Word of God and let it grow and bear fruit in our lives. God’s words are heavenly seeds, and when they grow, they produce the fruits of righteousness.
