A crucible for silver and a furnace for gold, but the LORD is the tester of hearts. — Prov 17:3 BSB
Remember, temptation is not sin unless it involves the consent of your will. Even if you feel an inclination toward sin, as long as the true choice of your spirit is set firmly against it, God sees this as mere solicitation. He credits your obedience as all the more pleasing because the temptation was strong.
We often underestimate how evil can infiltrate a pure heart and seem to blend with our thoughts and feelings, even while we resist and overcome it. We remain pure, like a bird emerging from water without a drop clinging to its wings, or like a harp struck by a clumsy hand that produces a discordant note—not because of any flaw in the harp, but because of the hand that touched it. When the Master touches it, it produces beautiful harmony.
Do not be afraid of your adversaries, for their attacks are evidence of your salvation and that God is with you.
