His master replied, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you shall have authority over ten cities.’ — Luke 19:17 BSB
It’s not our success in service that matters most but our faithfulness. Caleb and Joshua remained faithful, and God remembered it when the time of testing came. Their position was difficult and unpopular, but all of us are called at some point to stand alone in our trust in God, especially in trusting Him for victory over sin and claiming our full inheritance in Christ.
Even within the church, many will admit that such an ideal life of faith is admirable, but they claim it’s impractical or impossible. Like Caleb and Joshua, many of us must stand alone, trusting in Christ to save us completely and following Him wholeheartedly, even if no one else does. This is the true victory of faith and the proof of uncompromising loyalty.
So let us not complain when we suffer for our testimony or stand alone for God. Instead, let us thank Him for honoring us with such a test, knowing that He can use us later when others are ready to follow.
