So the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. — Luke 14:23 BSB
In the parable found in Luke 14 about the great supper, a lord invites his friends and neighbors to a feast. When they ask to be excused, he opens the invitation to the poor, the crippled, and the outcasts. This parable provides a powerful picture of Christianity’s program in this age.
It’s clear that the Master is starting to excuse those who have grown indifferent to the Gospel in many Christian nations. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to reach the unsaved in our own lands, especially those who have heard the Gospel often but have declined to respond. They have asked to be excused, and the Lord is doing just that.
Meanwhile, two significant movements are becoming more evident today. One is the call to reach the neglected and marginalized in our own cities and nations. The other is the call to take the Gospel to the neglected and unreached people across the world.
