And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. — Rom 13:11-12 BSB
Let us awaken from our slumber; let us be alert and fully aware of the great necessities that truly matter.
Let us put off the garments of the night, the indulgences that come with it—the loose robes of pleasure and the flowing garments of relaxation. The festivities of the night are not for the children of the day. Let us cast off the works of darkness.
Before we dress for the day, let us first arm ourselves. We are stepping into a land full of enemies and dangers. Let us put on the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of faith and love, and take up the shield of faith. Let us stand armed and vigilant as the perils of the last days close in around us.
Let us put on the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our true garment of day. Not our own works or righteousness, but the person and righteousness of the Lord Jesus, who gave His life for us and is our All-Sufficiency.
