Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God. — Rom 7:4 BSB

In our early Christian experiences, we often know the Holy Spirit only from a distance—through providence or the Word. But eventually, we receive Him as an inward Guest, dwelling within us and speaking to our innermost being. Yet this doesn’t mean the external work of His power ceases; rather, it increases and becomes even more glorious. The power within us continues to work outside of us, answering prayers, healing sickness, and overruling circumstances, doing "exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think," according to the power at work within us.

There is a double presence of the Lord for the consecrated believer. He is present in our hearts and mightily present in the events of our lives. He is the Christ in us and the Christ of all our days, with all power in heaven and on earth.

The Holy Spirit is our wonder-worker, our all-sufficient God and Guardian, and He waits today to work just as mightily in our lives as He did in the days of Moses, Daniel, and Paul.
