Therefore, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in Him, — Col 2:6 BSB

It’s easier to keep the fire burning than to rekindle it once it has gone out. Let’s remain in Him. Don’t let each day begin with clearing away the ashes and rekindling a new flame. Instead, keep the fire alive, never letting it die. Among the ancient Greeks, the sacred fire was never allowed to go out. So, in a higher sense, let’s keep the heavenly flame aglow on the altar of our hearts.

It takes far less effort to maintain a good habit than to form one. Once a spiritual habit is established, it becomes a natural tendency, and we experience freedom in following it. Let’s not keep laying the foundation of repentance from dead works, but press on toward perfection. Whatever progress we’ve made, let’s continue to live by the same standard, and remain focused on those things.

Every spiritual habit starts with effort and watchfulness, but once established, it becomes a pathway along which divine life flows freely and naturally.
