For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. — Col 3:3 BSB
Some Christians loom larger than is appropriate. They can tell, and others can tell, how many souls they’ve brought to Christ. Their work becomes its own memorial. Others blend so completely with other workers that their individual contribution can hardly be traced.
Yet, after all, this is the most Christ-like ministry. The Master Himself is hidden in the work of the church, appearing only as her ascended Head. Even the Holy Spirit remains unseen, working through the vessels He uses. The vine does not bear the fruit, and the flow of sap is invisible, but the little branches bear the clusters and seem to receive all the honor.
The nearer we come to Christ, the more we are willing to be unseen, allowing others to take prominence while we support them in love and prayer. Lord, make me like the veiled seraphim before the throne, who cover their faces and feet, hiding themselves and their service while they fly to obey You.
