But they pleaded with Him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So He went in to stay with them. — Luke 24:29 BSB
In Jesus’ final words to His disciples in John 14 and 15, He teaches that the essence of true holiness is to “Abide in Me, and I in you,” for without Him we can do nothing. The very purpose of the Holy Spirit is to reveal this truth to us—that “I am in the Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” His intercessory prayer reaches its climax in these three words: “I in them.”
Is it for me to be cleansed by His power
From the pollution of sin?
Is it for me to be kept every hour
By His abiding within?
Is it for me to be perfectly whole
Through His anointing divine,
Claiming in body, and spirit, and soul
All of His fullness as mine?
Wonderful promise so full and so free,
Wonderful Savior, how can it be,
Cleansing and pardon and mercy for me?
Yes, it's for me, for me.
