You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. — Rom 8:9 BSB
Being spiritual is not about having a strong spiritual character; it's about being filled with the Holy Spirit. As the apostle said, "You are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you."
The beauty of the new creation is not just that it renews the human spirit, but that it prepares it to be the dwelling place of God Himself, much like a child depends on a parent. The highest form of spirituality is the greatest sense of dependence on the Holy Spirit. This is why Jesus’ act of breathing on His disciples and giving them His own Spirit is such a powerful picture of the glory of the new creation. When the Holy Spirit fills us, He fills every part of our being.
