Refrain from anger and abandon wrath; do not fret—it can only bring harm. — Ps 37:8 BSB
A life was lost in Israel because someone laid unbidden hands on the ark of God. Though their intent was good—to steady it as the oxen drew it over rough terrain—they touched God's work presumptuously, and their hands were struck lifeless.
Much of the life of faith involves letting things be. When we trust something completely to God, we can keep our hands off it, knowing that He will guard it better than we can. The Scripture says, "Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; fret not yourself because of the one who prospers in his way."
Things may seem to be going wrong, but God knows just as well as we do. He will act at the right moment if we truly trust Him enough to let Him work in His own way and time. Masterful inactivity in some matters is crucial, while restless interference can do much harm, for God has taken on the responsibility to accomplish His sovereign will.
