For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. — Heb 4:15 BSB
Not long ago, I was talking with a sister who was suffering greatly and seeking the Lord for healing. After some conversation, we prayed, committing her case to the Lord and asking for deliverance as she was ready to claim it.
As soon as we finished praying, she grabbed my hand and asked me to join her in praying for something heavy on her heart. Without mentioning her own physical burden, she launched into an impassioned prayer for a poor orphan boy she had just heard about. Her prayer was filled with such love and empathy that she wept multiple times as she pleaded for the boy’s well-being. She ended without even referring to her own need.
I was deeply moved by her selflessness, and I thought of how the Father’s heart must be touched by her own situation.
