With Me Wherever I Am

You need not fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, for the LORD is with you.’ — 2 Chr 20:17 BSB

This was a great mercy for Jehoshaphat, for a vast army had come against him; and it will be a great mercy for me, too, for I have great needs and no strength or wisdom. If the Lord is with me, it doesn’t matter who abandons me. If the Lord is with me, I will overcome in the battles of life, and the greater my struggles, the more glorious my victory will be. But how can I be sure that the Lord is with me?

I can be certain He is with me if I am with Him. If I trust His faithfulness, believe His Word, and obey His commands, then He is definitely with me. If I’m living for the enemy, God is against me, as He should be; but if I live to honor God, I can be sure that He will honor me.

I know for sure that God is with me if Jesus is my only Savior. If I’ve placed my soul in the hands of His only Son, I can be sure that the Father will use all His power to protect me so that His Son will not be dishonored.

Oh, for the faith to grasp hold of today’s simple yet powerful promise! Lord, fulfill this word in my life! Be with me in my home, in the street, in the field, at work, in company, and when I’m alone. Be with all Your people, too.
