Out of Spiritual Death

Then you, My people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. — Ezek 37:13 BSB

It must be true—those who are brought from death to life will surely recognize the Lord’s hand in such a transformation. This is the greatest and most miraculous change a person can experience—to be lifted out of the grave of spiritual death and brought into the joy and freedom of spiritual life. Only the living God, the giver of life, can accomplish this.

Oh, how well I remember when I was lying in the valley of dry bones, as lifeless as any of them! Blessed was the day when God’s free and sovereign grace sent His servant to speak His word to me! Glory to God for the stirring that word caused among the dry bones! Even more blessed was the heavenly breath that made me alive! Now I know the life-giving Spirit of the ever-living God. Truly, Jehovah is the living God, for He brought me to life. My new life, even with its struggles and pains, is proof that the Lord can bring life where there was death. He is the only true God. He is all-powerful, gracious, and glorious, and my soul, made alive by His Spirit, worships Him as the great I AM. All glory be to His holy name! As long as I live, I will praise Him.
