The Reason for Singing

The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing. — Zeph 3:17 BSB

What a powerful truth this is! Jehovah God is in the center of His people, surrounded by all His majesty and power! His presence alone fills us with peace and hope. Boundless strength is stored in our God, and He lives among His church; that’s why His people can shout for joy.

We not only have His presence, but He is actively working on our behalf, always saving us. His very name, Jesus, means “Savior,” and He never stops saving. Let us not fear any danger, for He is mighty to save.

But that’s not all. God remains the same forever. He saves, He finds joy in loving us, and He will never stop loving. His love brings Him delight. He even sings over His beloved people. This is an incredible thought. When God created the world, He didn’t sing—He simply said, “It is very good.” But when it comes to redemption, the sacred Trinity rejoices with a song! Think of it—be amazed! Jehovah Jesus sings a wedding song over His chosen bride. To Him, she is His love, His joy, His rest, and His song. O Lord Jesus, may Your boundless love teach us to love You in return, to rejoice in You, and to sing to You our life-long song.
