Perfect Willingness

Your people shall be willing on Your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, to You belongs the dew of Your youth. — Ps 110:3 BSB

Praise be to the God of grace! He has a people, chosen long ago to be His special possession. By nature, they were just as stubborn as the rest of Adam’s descendants, but when the day of His power came, and grace showed its full strength, they willingly turned to repentance and faith in Jesus. No one is saved against their will, but God’s power sweetly changes the will. What a wondrous power this is—it doesn’t force the will but gently rules it! God doesn’t break the lock; He opens it with a master key that only He can use.

Now, we are willing to be, do, or endure whatever the Lord desires. If at any point we begin to resist, all He has to do is come to us in power, and we will quickly run in the way of His commands with all our hearts. May this be a day of power for me, leading me to some noble effort for the glory of God and the good of others! Lord, I am willing; could this be a day of Your power? I am entirely at Your disposal, eager to be used by You for Your holy purposes. O Lord, don’t let me have to say, “I want to do good, but I don’t know how to carry it out.” Instead, give me the power to match my willingness.
