Complete Safety
Concerning Benjamin he said: “May the beloved of the LORD rest secure in Him; God shields him all day long, and upon His shoulders he rests.” — Deut 33:12 BSB
There is no safety like dwelling close to God. For those He loves most, the Lord provides the most secure place. O Lord, let me always remain under Your shadow, close to Your side. Draw me nearer to You, my Lord, and once I’m especially close, I want to stay there forever.
What a covering the Lord gives His chosen ones! It’s not just a sturdy roof, a bomb-proof shelter, or even an angel’s wing—it is Jehovah Himself. Nothing can harm us when we are covered by Him. This covering is granted all day long, no matter how long the day may feel. Lord, let me live today fully aware that I’m under this canopy of love and sovereign power.
Does the third part of the verse mean that the Lord would dwell among the mountains of Benjamin, or that He bears Benjamin’s burdens on His shoulders? Or does it mean that we are carried on the shoulders of the Almighty? Either way, the Lord is the strength and support of His saints. Lord, let me always experience Your help, and then my strength will be enough for me.
