From Obedience to Blessing
Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you. — Hag 2:19 BSB
The future is hidden from us, but here we are given a glimpse of what’s to come. The Lord declares, “From this day, I will bless you.”
It’s worth considering the day referred to in this promise. The people had experienced failed crops, mildew, and blasting because of their sin. But now, the Lord saw them turning back to Him, obeying His word and rebuilding His temple. So He said, “From this day, I will bless you.” If we have been living in sin but then turn from it by the Spirit’s leading, we can expect the Lord’s blessing. His favor, His Spirit, and His grace will all increase in our lives. Though we may face greater opposition from the world because of our faithfulness, we will also experience closer fellowship with God and a deeper understanding of our acceptance in Him.
Lord, I am resolved to be more faithful to You, more diligent in following Your word and Your ways. Bless me, then, O Lord, as You have promised, both now and forever.
