Listen for the Signal

As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move quickly, because this will mean that the LORD has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines. — 2 Sam 5:24 BSB

There are moments when we see God at work, and those moments should move us to act. The Spirit of God moves as He pleases, and when we sense His presence, we need to respond. We’re always called to fight the battles of faith, but when we sense the Lord moving ahead of us, we should be especially bold in the fight.

When the wind stirred the tops of the trees, David and his men took it as a signal to attack, and as they advanced, the Lord defeated their enemies. May the Lord give us an opportunity today to speak about Him to our friends! Let’s stay alert and ready to act when the moment comes. Who knows? Today could be a day of good news and soul-winning. Let’s keep our ears open to the Spirit’s movement and be ready to obey. Isn’t the promise, “Then the Lord will go before you,” enough to give us courage? Since the Lord is leading, we must not hold back.
