Spiritual Sowing

The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. — Gal 6:8 BSB

Sowing seed might seem like a loss because we bury good grain in the ground and don’t see it again. In the same way, living by the Spirit might seem unproductive, as we deny ourselves without any visible reward. But if we live for God, seeking to obey His will and bring Him honor, we are not sowing in vain. The reward is life itself, even eternal life. We begin to experience this life now, as we come to know God, enjoy fellowship with Him, and delight in His presence. This life grows like a river that gets wider and deeper until it carries us into the endless joy of being with God forever.

Let’s not spend today sowing to satisfy our flesh, because that will only lead to decay. Instead, let’s live for what is pure, high, and spiritual, seeking to honor our holy Lord by obeying His Spirit. What a harvest it will be when we reap eternal life! What an amazing joy that will be! Lord, make us faithful reapers, for the sake of Your Son.
