Victory in Reverses

Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. — Mic 7:8 BSB

This could describe how someone feels when they are oppressed and beaten down. The enemy may dim our light for a while, but there is real hope for us in the Lord. If we trust in Him and hold on to our integrity, the dark times won’t last. The insults of our enemy are only temporary. Soon, the Lord will turn their laughter into sorrow and our sighs into songs of joy.

Even if the great enemy of souls seems to triumph over us for a time, let’s take heart, because we will overcome him in the end. We will rise from our fall because our God has not fallen, and He will lift us up. We may sit in darkness for a moment, but our Lord is the source of light, and He will soon bring us a joyful day. Let’s not give in to despair or doubt. Just one turn of events, and the lowest will rise to the top. Woe to those who laugh now, because they will mourn when their pride is turned to everlasting shame. But blessed are those who mourn now, for they will be comforted by God.
