Prayer for Peace

Seek the prosperity of the city to which I have sent you as exiles. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for if it prospers, you too will prosper. — Jer 29:7 BSB

The principle in this text suggests that all of us who are the Lord’s strangers and sojourners should earnestly seek the peace and prosperity of the people among whom we live. We should especially bless our nation and our city through constant intercession. It is fitting for every believer to offer heartfelt prayers for their country and other nations. Let us fervently pray for the great blessing of peace, both at home and abroad. If strife were to bring bloodshed to our streets, or if foreign wars were to claim the lives of our soldiers, we would all mourn the tragedy; therefore, let us pray for peace and diligently promote the principles that bind people together in bonds of unity and friendship.
