Walk in Light

I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should remain in darkness. — John 12:46 BSB

This world is as dark as midnight, but Jesus has come so that by faith we may have light and no longer sit in the darkness that covers the rest of humanity.

“Whosoever” is a broad term; it means you and me. If we trust in Jesus, we will no longer sit in the shadow of death but will step into the warm light of a day that will never end. Why don’t we come out into the light immediately?

A cloud may sometimes hover over us, but if we believe in Jesus, we will not remain in darkness. He has come to bring us broad daylight. Shall He have come in vain? If we have faith, we have the privilege of living in the sunlight; let us enjoy it. From the night of natural depravity, ignorance, doubt, despair, sin, and fear, Jesus has come to set us free; and all believers will know that He did not come in vain, just as the sun never rises without spreading its light and warmth.

Shake off your depression, dear brother or sister. Don’t stay in the dark—abide in the light. In Jesus is your hope, your joy, and your heaven. Look to Him, and only to Him, and you will rejoice as the birds do at sunrise and as the angels do before the throne.
