Divine Provision

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? — Matt 6:30 BSB

Clothing can be expensive, and poor believers may worry about where their next outfit will come from. The soles of their shoes are wearing thin—how will they get new ones? But see how our thoughtful Lord has anticipated this concern. Our heavenly Father clothes the grass of the field with a splendor that even Solomon could not match; won’t He clothe His own children? We are confident that He will. There may be patches and mends, but we will have the clothing we need.

A poor minister once found his clothes nearly threadbare, so worn that they barely held together; but as a servant of the Lord, he trusted his Master to provide for him. It so happened that while visiting a friend, the writer of these pages was invited to use the minister’s pulpit, and it occurred to him to take up a collection for the minister. And there was his new suit! We have seen many other instances where those who serve the Lord have found Him attentive to their needs, even regarding their wardrobe. When man sinned and needed clothing, God mercifully provided it; and the garments the Lord gave to our first parents were far better than those they made for themselves.
