Home Blessings Extended

May the LORD bless you from Zion, that you may see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life, — Ps 128:5 BSB

This promise is for the God-fearing person who walks carefully in holiness. They’ll enjoy blessings in their family life, with their spouse and children bringing joy at home. But this person also cares about the church and its prosperity, for they’re just as concerned for the Lord’s house as for their own. When God blesses our home, it’s fitting that we should desire to see His house blessed as well. Our blessings aren’t truly good unless they also benefit God’s people.

When we go to worship in Zion’s assemblies, we’ll be blessed—instructed, encouraged, and comforted. “The Lord will bless you out of Zion.”

And it’s not just us who’ll be blessed—the church itself will prosper. More believers will be added, and their work will succeed. Some faithful people see this promise fulfilled throughout their lives. Sadly, when they pass, the church often declines. Let’s be among those who bring good to Jerusalem throughout our days. Lord, by Your mercy, make us such people! Amen.
