Dwelling Safely Apart

So Israel dwells securely; the fountain of Jacob lives untroubled in a land of grain and new wine, where even the heavens drip with dew. — Deut 33:28 BSB

The more we live separate from the world, the safer we’ll be. God calls His people to “Come out from among them.” A worldly Christian is spiritually weak. If we compromise with Christ’s enemies, we may find ourselves counted among them.

Our safety isn’t in making peace with the enemy but in living close to our Best Friend—God. If we do this, we’ll be safe even from the mockery and slander of the world. We’ll be protected from its unbelief, pride, and moral filth.

God will also keep us safe in times of judgment, such as during wars or famines. Like Abram, who was blessed only after he fully obeyed and left Ur, we too will find safety alone with God. Lot wasn’t safe in Sodom, even surrounded by friends. Our safety comes from staying close to God.
