Faithful and Useful

My eyes favor the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; he who walks in the way of integrity shall minister to me. — Ps 101:6 BSB

If David felt this way, then we can be sure that the Son of David—Jesus—feels the same. Jesus is always looking for faithful people, and He fixes His eyes on them to observe, encourage, and reward them. No true-hearted person should ever feel overlooked; the King Himself is watching over you.

This royal attention leads to two blessings. First, Jesus says, “They may dwell with me.” The faithful are invited into His house; they are made His companions, and He delights in spending time with them. When we are faithful to the Lord, He will reveal Himself to us. The more we sacrifice for Him, the more joyfully He will welcome us into His presence.

Second, Jesus says, “He shall serve me.” The Lord will use those who are true to His Word and His cross. They will be His honored servants, part of His royal court. Faithfulness leads to both communion with Christ and usefulness in His kingdom. Lord, make me faithful so that I may dwell with You and serve You.
