An Angel Encampment

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them. — Ps 34:7 BSB

We can’t see the angels, but it’s enough to know that they can see us. There is one great Angel of the Covenant—Jesus—whom we love, even though we’ve never seen Him, and His eyes are always on us, day and night. Under Him, there is a host of holy angels who watch over His people and guard them from harm. While devils seek to harm us, angels are at work for our good.

Notice that the Lord of angels doesn’t just visit us now and then; He and His angels camp around us. Wherever we live and trust in the Lord, that’s where the headquarters of heaven’s army is located. The faithful are surrounded by angelic protection, so no attack can succeed unless the enemy can break through the defenses of the Lord Himself. We have constant protection, a watchful guard that never leaves us. God has promised deliverance, and we will experience it time and again until our struggles are over, and we enter into eternal rest.
