An Appeal; Deliverance
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me. — Ps 50:15 BSB
What a promise this is!
Here is a time of need: “the day of trouble.” Such days are filled with darkness, and each moment seems worse than the one before. But this promise is for those days; it is made for the times of difficulty.
Here is God’s gracious invitation: “Call upon me.” We shouldn’t need this reminder—it should be our habit to call on God every day. What a blessing to have the freedom to do so! How wise we are when we use this privilege. How foolish when we seek help elsewhere! The Lord invites us to bring our troubles to Him, and we should gladly do so.
Here is the encouraging promise: “I will deliver you.” No matter what the trouble, the Lord promises full and certain deliverance. He will personally bring us out of our trials by His mighty hand. We trust in this, and the Lord honors faith.
Here is the outcome: “You shall glorify me.” We will praise Him abundantly when He delivers us. And since He will surely do so, let us begin to glorify Him now!
