Covenant Reaches Children

I will establish My covenant as an everlasting covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. — Gen 17:7 BSB

O Lord, You have made a covenant with me, Your servant, through Christ Jesus my Lord; now I humbly ask, include my children in its gracious provisions. Allow me to believe this promise applies to me, just as it did to Abraham. I know my children, like all others, are born in sin and shaped by iniquity, so I ask not based on their birthright, for I know that “what is born of the flesh is flesh” and nothing more. Lord, by Your Holy Spirit, make them to be born under Your covenant of grace!

I pray for my descendants through all generations. Be their God, as You are mine. My greatest honor is that You have allowed me to serve You; may my offspring serve You faithfully in the years to come. O God of Abraham, be the God of his Isaac! O God of Hannah, accept her Samuel!

If You have shown favor to me and my family, I pray You also remember other households among Your people who remain unblessed. Be the God of all the families of Israel. Let no one who fears Your name endure the trial of a godless and wicked household, for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
