Looking for Him

so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him. — Heb 9:28 BSB

This is our hope: the One we have already seen coming to bear the sins of many will come again. This second appearing is not only a joyful expectation but also a glorious event, marked by specific promises.

At His second coming, Jesus will have no further dealings with sin. He has completely taken away our sins and borne the full penalty. There will be no more sin offerings, for He has fully removed the curse of sin.

Our Lord will come again to complete the salvation of His people. We will be fully and perfectly saved, enjoying the fullness of His salvation in every way. He comes not to deal with the consequences of our sin but to bestow upon us the full benefits of His obedience. He will bring us the complete reward of our redemption.

This second coming is only for those who look for Him. He will not appear in this glorious way to those blinded by self and sin. To them, He will be a Judge and nothing more. But for us who look to Him, His return brings life. Let us look for Him with hope and joy.
