Never Separated from God

And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this? — John 11:26 BSB

Yes, Lord, we believe it: we shall never die. While our bodies may separate from our souls, which is a kind of death, our souls shall never be separated from You, the true death that was threatened as the result of sin. We believe this with certainty because nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. We are members of Christ’s body; can He lose parts of His body? We are united to Christ in an eternal bond, and He will not be bereaved. It is not possible. There is a life within us that cannot be severed from God because the Holy Spirit dwells within us. And how then can we die? Jesus is our life, and because He cannot die again, neither can we. In Him, we have already died to sin once, and the penalty of death cannot be executed twice. We live now, and we live forever. The reward for righteousness is eternal life, and we possess nothing less than the righteousness of God, which guarantees this highest reward.

Living and believing in Him, we know that we shall live and rejoice forever. With this assurance, we press forward, confident that our life is secure in our living Head.
