A Completed Sacrifice

He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, so it can be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. — Lev 1:4 BSB

If by laying his hand on the bullock, the offerer made it his sacrifice, how much more shall Jesus become ours by the laying on of the hand of faith?

My faith lays its hand
On that dear head of Yours,
While like a penitent I stand,
And there confess my sin.

If a bullock could be accepted as an atonement, how much more shall the Lord Jesus be our full and all-sufficient atonement? Some people argue against the great truth of substitution, but for us, it is our hope, our joy, our boast, our everything. Jesus is accepted on our behalf to make atonement for us, and we are “accepted in the Beloved.” Let the reader be sure to lay his hand on the Lord’s completed sacrifice so that by accepting it, he may benefit from it. If he has done so before, let him do it again. If he has never done so, let him reach out his hand without delay. Jesus is yours now if you will have Him. Lean on Him—lean hard on Him—and He is yours beyond all doubt; you are reconciled to God, your sins are erased, and you belong to the Lord.
