"Through," Not Engulfed

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not set you ablaze. — Isa 43:2 BSB

There’s no bridge to avoid the waters; we must pass through them and feel the rush of the rivers. But the presence of God in the flood is better than any ferry. We will be tested, but we will triumph, for the Lord Himself, who is mightier than the waters, will be with us. In times of difficulty and danger, the Lord will surely be with His people. Life’s sorrows may rise to overwhelming heights, but God is more than able to meet each challenge.

The enemies of God may bring dangers of their own, like persecutions or cruel mockery—fiery trials, if you will. But what of it? We will walk through the fires. With God by our side, we won’t be burned; not even the smell of smoke will cling to us.

Oh, the wonderful security of those born of heaven and destined for heaven! Floods can’t drown them, and fires can’t burn them. Your presence, Lord, is the protection of Your people through every danger along the way. In faith, I entrust myself to You, and my spirit finds rest.
