Gift of Strength; Peace to Bless

The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace. — Ps 29:11 BSB

David had just heard God’s voice in a thunderstorm and witnessed His power in a raging hurricane, which he had just described. Now, in the calm after the storm, the same overwhelming power that shakes heaven and earth is promised to strengthen God’s chosen people. The One who hurls the lightning bolts will give His redeemed the strength to soar like eagles. The One whose voice shakes the earth will cause the enemies of His people to tremble and give His children peace. So, why are we weak when we have access to divine strength? Why are we troubled when God’s peace is offered to us? Jesus, the mighty God, is our strength; let’s put Him on and move forward in our service. Jesus, our blessed Lord, is our peace; let’s rest in Him today and be free from fear. How wonderful it is to have Him as both our strength and our peace, now and forever!

The same God who rides the storm will also calm the tempests in our lives, and soon He will send us days of peace. He will give us strength to endure the storms and songs to sing when the skies clear. Let’s start singing now to God, who is both our strength and our peace. Away with dark thoughts! Rise up, faith and hope!
