Spurgeon's Prayer: The Invitation of Grace
Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.
— Isaiah 55:6 (BSB)
You will never find Jesus so precious as when the world is one vast howling wilderness. Then, He is like a rose blooming in the midst of desolation, a rock rising above the storm.
— Charles Spurgeon
Heavenly Father, we are filled with gratitude as we reflect on Your gracious invitation. You have called us to seek You while You may be found, and we thank You that through Christ, You are always near. Before You, rivers of grace flow abundantly, and we approach You with hearts eager to experience the fullness of Your mercy. As we come, may Your Holy Spirit guide us, and may Jesus, our Mediator, lead us into Your presence.
Many of us have sought You long ago, and we testify to Your goodness. How faithful You have been! Your truth and love have carried us through every step of our journey, even when You disciplined us. We know that both the rod of correction and the kisses of Your grace are given in love. Blessed be Your name forever.
Yet, there are some who have heard Your invitations countless times but have not yet responded. Lord, speak to them now. Stop them in their tracks and turn their hearts to You. By the power of Your Word, awaken them to their need for salvation. Save them, O Lord, for Your glory.
As we come in prayer, we renew our vows and repentance before You. We look again at the cross, remembering our own sin and the great cost of our salvation. Jesus, You are our only hope—our sin-bearer, our sin-destroyer, and the source of all our righteousness. We dare not trust in our own efforts but rest entirely in You.
Today, we begin anew at the cross, trusting in Your finished work. Draw us closer, and bring salvation to those who have never known You. Amen.
