Spurgeon's Prayer: The Comforter’s Presence
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.
— John 14:16-17 (BSB)
Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing; we are as ships without wind.
— Charles Spurgeon
Father, we thank You for the precious gift of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter whom Christ promised to us. As we come before You tonight, we ask for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit’s presence in our lives. We need His guidance, His wisdom, and His strength. Without the Spirit, we can do nothing, but with Him, all things are possible.
Lord, we pray that the Holy Spirit would help us in our works of faith and labors of love. Whether in small acts of kindness or great endeavors, we ask for His enabling power. Let the Spirit dwell in us richly, guiding our every step and filling our hearts with the love of Christ. May we feel His presence with us as we go about our daily lives, knowing that we are never alone.
Holy Spirit, we also ask that You would convict hearts and lead many to the truth of the Gospel. You are the One who convinces the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We pray that You would open the eyes of those who are blind to the truth and bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Use us as instruments in Your hands to proclaim the good news.
As we rest tonight, we thank You for the gift of the Spirit, who comforts, guides, and empowers us. May we wake tomorrow with a renewed sense of His presence, ready to serve You in all we do. Amen.
